Spicy Vegan Salami This Healthy Kitchen
What is your favorite comfort food? Is it super creamy mac and cheese, gooey chocolate chip cookies or deliciously delicious grilled cheese?
But not just ANY grilled cheese, one made with sliced Genoa sausage, dill pickles and lots of rich Gruyere! Of course, you can use any cheese you like…I used white cheddar and Swiss mozzarella…everything worked well!
A great sandwich starts with great bread, which is why I turned to Martin’s Old Fashioned Real Butter Bread. If you’ve never tried it, you definitely must! It is very soft, oily and has a really great taste. In case your local store doesn’t carry it, you can actually order it online HERE.
Have you ever made grilled cheese and bread an excessive golden brown color before the cheese melts? Even with the best intentions, it can easily happen! Here are some tricks I’ve found that will help you make the best grilled cheese every time!
Pasta With Salami And Cheese (gubbio Pasta Salumi)
To me, this sausage and pickle grilled cheese tastes a lot like the classic hummus where slices of Italian sausage are rolled in cream cheese and pickles! I’ve always been a fan of those flavors and combining them into a classic comfort food really made my day!
The cream cheese layer is optional…as some people really don’t like the idea of cream cheese anywhere near their grilled cheese sandwiches…but I really like the extra icing , together with the Italian sausage and cream cheese appetizer. .
I really hope you try this amazing salami and pickle cheese sandwich soon…and don’t forget Martin’s Old Fashioned Real Butter Bread!!

This time I chose Genoa but I think this idea could also be super delicious with Italian black pepper sausage.

All I did was lay the salami flat on a baking tray on a layer of parchment. I make sure to cook them until really crispy.

If they are not crispy enough, they become chewy, which is not bad, but then they are not really salami fries.
These grilled sausage slices are crispy and salty. But they weren’t so salty that I stopped eating this whole lot…
I have also seen recipes that call for grilled salami with some preservative to make it sweet and savory. However, they use whole stems, not slices.
Because the genoa salami moves, you are essentially turning them into the perfect patties to dip into something.
Italian Pinwheels (quick And Easy)
They are so good that you probably won’t have any left over, but if you do, store them in the fridge in an airtight container.
Right! They make a great makeover appetizer. You can make them a few days in advance and then just pop them in the hot oven for a few minutes before serving.
You can serve these on their own or combine them with a creamy sauce. Different types of mustard are also a great idea! Except I don’t like mustard, ew.
