Inspired by my trip to Japan last year, I made a few posts about a design concept that includes sacred lotus flowers and wonderful flowering trees to visit tourism first idea when you go to Japan. I had an idea in my head to turn these wonderful gifts of nature into a design. After much designing and testing, the end result was beyond my imagination.

So I introduced the Lotus & Blossom mandala. A really easy to follow guide with written instructions and pictures. Each row has photo tutorials to make things easier when you get confused along the way. But once you get the pattern, you can reach out and lift it up.

Or get a Scheepjes Whirl with a length of 1000 meters and a weight of 215 – 225 grams. You can just work your way without changing the color. This pattern goes both ways as it allows for color change and single strand work. You only need to modify it when using Whirl because you will be using more threads. See notes about the model. When you are done you will have 30 – 50 grams left, it depends on the tension of your work.
The stitches used in this pattern are different from sl st -tr, but most of them are either front or back. There are written sewing instructions, but if that’s not enough I refer to the internet. It’s a simple stitch that can be found all over the internet with tutorials. All sizes are US/European sizes.
The template is now also available in Farsi, Swedish, Dutch, Danish and German translations. German translation by Christina Berberich. The Swedish version was translated by Johanna Lindahl of Mijo Crochet. The Danish version was translated by Line Lykholt.

Er is een kleine errata gevonden in the NL version on 04-08-19, in Ronde 12 fog and 5V in 3 losses, deze ziet u ook op de foto maar staat niet in het herhalingsgeedelet. Verder is het hele patroon againe ermidget na 03-01-2020 omdat de vertaling niet optimal was.

Easy to follow pattern. This was my first mandala and I absolutely love it! I have already started the second one
Nice style! Very pleased with the results! I did the extension, described on his blog. As someone in the comments (Mervi) said, the mandala will no longer stretch if you do the stretching. But it will still be better if you do the following 2 things: 1) Extend the mandala to a larger size. I managed to tie a 1 meter hook, and it stretches well. If you don’t want to stretch, use a larger shoe. 2) Replace the small extension hooks. I did 1-25 rows with a 2.75mm hook (I twisted it loose so I used 2.75mm instead of 3mm). Then I repeated rows 19-25 with a 2.5 mm stroke. Then I worked rows 26-39 with a 2, 25 mm crochet hook. The mandala still won’t stretch, but if you stretch it with a big enough hand, it will work fine. Note: 1 Scheepjes Whirl cake is not enough if you want to make extras.
Overall, a well written format. And I love patterns from the crochet man. But unfortunately the explanation, how to grow the model, doesn’t work at all. You get too many stitches and the mandala doesn’t stretch. So don’t rely on his explanation on his blog! It’s a little frustrating to plan everything in a big circle, and then find out almost at the end that it doesn’t work. Still love his other styles though! 💕
