Cut your cardboard into a square using your paper cutter; The size of the square depends on the size of the desired flower. In this tutorial, we cut our 8.5″ x 11″ cards into a 6″ x 6″ square. Experiment and make different sizes.

Then use scissors to cut your square into a circle, cutting close to the sides and rounding the corners. (It doesn’t have to be a perfect circle.)
Start anywhere on the outside edge of the circle and cut it into a spiral (the cut should be about 1 inch wide). When you get to the center, leave the edge in the middle to make a small circle, which will be the base of your flower.
Once you’ve cut the spiral, go back and cut the wave pattern right around the outer edge (it can be uneven for added interest).
Take the outer edge and start rolling tightly until you reach the center of the circle. Try to keep the straight edge of your spiral lined up while rolling.

Now that your flower is well wrapped, place it on the table and let it unravel a bit to reveal a beautiful spiral flower.
Carefully apply hot glue to the bottom of the spiral flower and firmly attach it to the round edge of the spiral, which remains as the base of the flower. Hold it in place until the glue dries to prevent it from coming apart later.
At this point you can leave your flower as is or move on to making the paper stem.
Start at one corner and carefully twist diagonally until you’ve wrapped it around. If it seems a little short, you can try to lengthen it by gently pulling the ends. Try to keep it as tight as possible.

Then carefully cut a hole in the bottom center of your flower with scissors and slide the stem through. It should stay in place on its own, but you can also add hot glue to keep it secure.
