First, cut the strips of cardboard. Put a string on your child’s head to see how long you want the string to be. Make sure you add an inch or two of cardboard so you can seal the edges. Our strip is about 24 inches long and 1.5 inches thick. You can cut thin strips if you don’t want to see too much of the cardboard.
Poke holes in the frame of the dandelion crown with a sharp pencil. Make sure the holes are big enough to fit a dandelion plant.
Cut off the excess cardboard so that the dandelions can fit through one layer of cardboard.
Go outside and pick dandelions for your crown. As you can see, we have a TON of dandelions in our yard! Don’t worry, we have saved a lot for the bees. I suggest doing this job only if you have a lot of dandelions 🙂

Depending on two factors, you can keep your dandelions loose during this step. If your holes are too big, your dandelion seeds will fall off. We found it helpful to keep the crown parallel to the ground, as shown in the image below.
