There is no reason why the celebration should stop just because the wedding day is over. We are all for it. When my sister got married last year, we made all nine of the bride’s bouquets and the bride’s bouquet. But we also need boutonnieres for the groom, groomsmen, fathers and grandparents. We wanted them to coordinate, so I came up with this:

Now that you know how to make fabric flower bouquets, how about making man buttons? They are MUCH faster than bouquets and can be perfectly coordinated if you use the same fabrics as the bouquets.

Step 1: Make a rosette and add a stem at the back like you did with the bouquet.

Step 2: Cover the buttons with fabric. The packages include a pattern for cutting the appropriate size of circle and instructions on the back. But I will also show you some photos here!

Step 3: After the buttons are covered, you need to add the stem. I pull the flower cord through the pin of the button at the back and wrap it around me. Then I add a dollop of glue and push the stem in to make sure the button head doesn’t wobble all over the place.

Step 4: Arrange the flowers as you like, then glue all three stems together. Flowers that have been out of the water for even a short time will stick to the cut ends, so you have to cut them again to open them up and keep them fresh.

This allows them to absorb water and the flowers last longer. Cut the stems at an angle of one inch from the original end with a sharp knife on the cutting board; dip the end in cold water and store it in the refrigerator.

Fresh wedding boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen should be prepared the night before the big day, just keep them in the fridge. Let’s make a boutonniere!

The first step is to strengthen the real flower, so that the buds and stems are not weak, break or fall, you need to wire and glue the stems. You will create a new boutonniere stem with pieces of floral wire.

Real Or Fake Flowers For Your Wedding

If you are using silk, you can skip this step or you can also tie them together with wire and ribbon. This should be done if the plastic stems are too thick, bulky or inflexible.

Take an 8-inch piece of wire and stick it straight up the flower stem.

TIP FOR SILK FLOWERS: To pass the wire through the hard plastic base of the silk flower stem, heat the end of the wire in the wick of a lighted candle. Then quickly push them through the plastic base! The heat melts the plastic and the wire just falls off.

Fold the wire and wrap with tape, creating an imitation of a narrow trunk. Stretch the tape while wrapping, this activates the stickiness of the tape to ensure a firm hold around the wire.
