This post is part of a seasonal blog I’m running with some of my favorite blogger friends! Be sure to visit all the links at the bottom of this article for more beautiful DIY flower arrangement ideas! It’s no secret that I LOVE flowers, and I love to add them to my decor in spring. I wish I had an unlimited budget for fresh designer flower arrangements, but since that’s not the case, I like to play around with store bought flowers and make them more expensive. This bohemian inspired rose flower arrangement was so much fun to create, so I used a few simple tricks to create it with some inexpensive bouquets I picked up at a local thrift store. Want to make one too? Here are some tips to make flowers in stores look beautiful and expensive: Choose flowers in a monochromatic or analogous color palette. What it means?! This means: buy flowers that are all shades of the same color, or several colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. You can read my post on color schemes to see the color wheel and get some ideas. These color schemes will help make your flower arrangement elegant and sublime. For this one, I grabbed tulips and mixed flowers in shades of pink and purple – analogous colors! Use a unique vase in a beautiful texture or color. Placing your arrangement in a pretty vase will instantly make your flowers look classier. Try a heavy glass vase, something textured, or even something unexpected like an antique jar or used jug. For my flower arrangement, I ended up using a large candle holder in a textured pink and gold color combination. Make a shape and group the same flowers. I learned these tricks from one of my favorite floral designers – Cory Christopher. After filling your vase with water, start trimming and placing the flowers in the vase with the finished shape in mind. For this one I wanted to create a triangular shape with taller flowers in the middle and shorter flowers on either side. You can also make a circle, something more asymmetrical – use your creativity! Another trick is to group similar flowers together to create clusters. I love how it looks! In my arrangement, I group chrysanthemums, light tulips, dark tulips and carnations in bunches instead of spreading them throughout the arrangement. It’s such a beautiful look and reminds me of a bouquet you can make naturally by picking flowers from the field. Add dried or fake stems. Finally, sneaking in dried stems or artificial flowers or greenery can make your arrangement look fuller and more interesting on a budget. I thought about adding faux eucalyptus stems to mine, but when I tried adding these dried pampas grass stems, I enjoyed the slightly golden softness with the rose colors of the flowers. The great thing is that you can reuse dried and artificial stems! I am so happy with how this beautiful spring flower arrangement turned out and I hope you enjoyed these simple tips on how to make your own spring flower arrangement. 20 Beautiful Flower Arrangements Click the links below each group of images to visit these inspiring spring ideas!
