How To Make A Flower With Wire – February 11, 2022 Nail Polish Wire Flowers – How To Today I’m sharing step-by-step instructions for making wire flowers (also known as wood glue flowers). These beautiful flowers are one of my favorite things about last week’s Homemade Mini Cloche Valentine Tray Decor. Made from thin wire and pink and white nail polish, these magical looking flowers are a wonderful spring project and very easy to make. Since the main materials are making wire and nail polish, no big investment is required either. I used pink and white nail polish to create my wire flowers because I wanted delicate looking flowers for my layered valentine tray. Of course, if you have a nice nail polish collection, you can use any color you like to create these beautiful flowers. TIP: Whenever you want to give the flower petals a new look, paint them with a little more nail polish to completely change the color of the flowers. What can you do with wire flowers? I use my wire nail polish flowers to make a mini tiered tray decor. Here are some additional ways to use these mini wire flowers: Easily make jewelry with wire flowers, e.g. bracelets, rings, brooches, necklaces, earrings, etc. Make your own wire wreath. If you watch the video, it will be much easier for you to see how to make a flower frame. Lay out a length of wire, but do not cut it from the coil yet. To make the first petal, loop the loop of wire into an oval shape, then twist once to secure the two pieces of wire together. Make another loop and twist together with the first loop. When you make the third loop, twist the thread up and over between the previous two petals. Continue looping until you have five petals. Twist the wire together to make a flower stem. Wrap the thread around the smooth stone a few times, then cut it from the coil. Remove the wire flower from the stone and wrap it around a thin strip of cardboard. Repeat until you have as many wire flowers as you need. How to Bend Wire to Make Wire Flowers TIP: Don’t worry if you don’t get the perfect petal size on your first try. It’s a slow process, but if you’re impatient, try wrapping a long piece of wire around a pen or pencil to make individual petals. Nail Polish Flowers Now it’s time to add some nail polish to the flower frames. Hold the flower firmly in one hand and gently brush nail polish over the wire frame of each petal. Thicker (old) nail polish is better for making wire flowers, but you may still need to tap the wire petals a few times before they stick. If the wire sheets are too wide, the nail polish may not stick. In this case, try pinching the wire petals together to make them narrower or try my tip below. After the first coat of nail polish dries, apply the second coat. Now you have beautiful wire flowers! Last week I used wire and nail polish to make a mini wooden sign. Here you can see tutorials for making wooden signs. Painting Wire Flowers and Making a DIY Glass Cloche TIP: If you want to make wider wire petals, try dipping them in wood glue first. Allow the adhesive to dry before applying your chosen nail polish. Instructions for making a mini homemade cloche I arranged my wire flowers under the mini homemade cloche on a layered tray for Valentine’s Day. If you want to see more step-by-step scrap wood projects on trays, you can read this post here. (You’ll have to scroll down after this post to see the DIYs at the bottom). Here’s how to make a homemade mini cloche First, sand a small square piece of scrap wood with 120 grit sandpaper. (I used pieces of table legs left over from tearing down the dining room table). Wipe off the sanding dust. Next we will make a glass dome for the mini cloches. Using a glue gun, glue a piece of tape around the top of a small glass jar. Make a braid out of three shades of string or twine and glue it over the top of the ribbon. Make wire flowers into a bouquet by twisting the wire together, then wrapping the wire around a smooth stone or pebble. Place the stone and wire flowers on top of the wooden square and cover with a DIY cloche. Finally, cut some small hearts out of construction paper and thread them into the braided string.
