How To Make A Flower Ring With Seed Beads – I have written many tutorials on how to make flowers using polymer clay. But did you know that you can make flowers with just wire and beads? These techniques have long been used for bridal jewelery and hairstyles. They are very easy to learn but can create amazing effects.
In this tutorial I will show you three ways to make pearl flowers using different types of pearls. The ornament design is kept simple for educational purposes. You can make your own version using these basic techniques.
How To Make A Flower Ring With Seed Beads
Take a piece of 28 gauge wire and fold it in half. Hold the folded part with a pair of pliers and twist the wire together as shown in Figure 1. This will create a loop that you can add other elements to later.

Slide five seed beads (I used 2mm moonstone beads) to one side of the wire. Wrap the wire until the beads look like flower shapes (Figure 3). Twist the wire tightly as shown in Figure 4. When it meets the other side of the wire, continue to twist 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 inches).
Now take the thread on the opposite side of the first flower and slide five seed beads over it (I used Miyuki gold). As before, wrap and twist the thread so that the beads form a flower shape (pictures 5 and 6).
Continue the same process. Each time, use the opposite side of the wire to make a flower so that the final product resembles a tree branch.
You can complete the project by wrapping the twisted wire into a closed loop, as shown in Figure 9.

Now you end up with a piece that has two loops at each end. If you want to make earrings, attach an ear hook to one end and a large pearl to the other. If you want to make a hairpiece, make both loops larger so that the strands of hair can pass through them. In addition, you can connect both ends with chains for a necklace. The possibilities are endless.
This technique applies to all top drilled drop beads. For a more wedding-appropriate piece, you can use white pearls as shown in the photo. For a casual look, you can choose colored top-drilled crystals.
**If you choose pearls, I recommend using imitation pearls instead of freshwater pearls. Later, there are irregular shapes that create an uneven flower.
Slide five top-drilled artificial beads onto 28 gauge wire. Then slide from the leftmost string to the right side of the wire as shown in Figure 2. Tighten the wire until the beads look like flower shapes (Figure 3).

Unlike the seed bead project we discussed earlier, one wrap is not enough to make the top drilled beads fit tightly together. You need to wrap the flower further to fix the beads.
So the wrapping technique is the key to the success of this project. Each flower takes five revolutions and the final shape looks like a star as shown in Figure 8.
In the images above, I have marked the direction of each cover with arrows. Remember that for each winding the wire passes through two adjacent beads, both front and back.
When the flower is finished, twist the thread tightly as shown in figure 9 and we can move on to the next flower.

Bend one side of the wire and slide the top five drilled beads over it. Repeat the wrapping process described in step 2. When the second flower is finished, twist the thread slightly and make the third flower.
Create a leaf by adding a single bead to each side of the flower as shown in Figure 6-8.

Our latest project is designed for oval beads. The raised beads are perfect for flower petals. We can wrap them separately and add a small pearl in the center of the flower.

Slide the oval bead over the wire and stop at the center point. Take one side of the wire and wrap it tightly until the bead meets the other end. Then twist the wires together 2 or 3 times as shown in Figure 2.
Bend one end of the wire outward and slide the other bead over it. Repeat the rolling and twisting process until all five petals are finished.
Bend one end of the wire upwards and slide a small round bead over it. Wrap half of the bead and twist the thread around the center of the flower as shown in pictures 8 and 9.
Once the flower is finished, we can move on to adding leaves on both sides. The technique is similar to wrapping individual flower petals.

You can continue to add more flowers and leaves if needed. To complete the piece, make a closed loop at the end with a pair of pliers (pictures 4 and 5).
The finished piece can be used as an element in many jewelry designs. In the photo above, I added two pearls on top and made it into an earring.

Here it is important to use the right thread or wire. My favorite thread for daisy chains is Griffin’s twisted silk thread. It comes with an attached needle that makes threading through small seed beads seamless, especially if you need to thread a few seed beads. Show the whole card and double the end. You will leave a 3-4″ tail.
Note: You definitely don’t want to use flexible wire here. Getting a tight weave on a daisy is very difficult.
Thread on some seed beads. Later you will add the daisy petal color and create the top half of the flower. Since I’m using a slightly larger center gold bead here, I’m adding 5 beads here. If you are using smaller center beads (like 8/0 seed beads) I would add 4.

Add a pearl in the middle. Again, I’m using 3mm gold beads here, but you can use any size beads. Take the needle and thread it through the first colored bead, towards the knot/end of the bangle.
Tip: See how it’s important to have a string or thread that can go through your seed beads twice? Size and material are decisive!
Add three more colored beads. Then take the needle and thread it through the last colored bead before the middle bead. It should go in the opposite direction to the beginning of the bracelet.
Pull the cord all the way through to make a daisy. You can adjust the beads to keep the beads in place and ensure they are evenly spaced.

When it all feels tight, add a few more spacer beads before starting the next daisy. Add the next set of colors (5) and beads in the middle.
Thread the needle through the first colored bead, add three more beads, and then thread the needle through the 5th bead, the last one before the center bead.
For closure, I like to use a sliding macrame closure. It’s more work and I find it easier to tighten and tighten the hand against the wrist. If you decide to do a sliding closure, leave about an inch of space. If you’re only adding one grip, you can leave about 1/4-1/3″ of space.
Note: I’m using Chinese knot cord for the closure here because I was short on silk thread and wanted a contrasting color to help it stand out better. I actually prefer Chinese knot cord for cloud attachments. But if you don’t want to bother buying it, you can use silk thread – feel free to go up a size.

Cut an 8-10″ piece of cord or wire. Place the ends of the bracelet opposite and parallel to each other. Place the middle of the closure cord under your bracelet ends. Fold the right cord over the cord, then fold the left cord over. On the right cord, point down. Left cord between right and center Pull under the belt and then through the loop on the right side.
Now complete the square knot, do the same on the opposite side. Finish by folding the other half of the square knot over the middle strand and under the right strand. Pull the right string under the left and middle threads and through the loop on the left side.
To complete the closure, thread a string onto the needle and sew
