How To Decorate Flower Basket – This DIY floral hanging basket is super easy to make and a great addition to your front door. You can find some of the items needed for this project at your local thrift store. It’s a nice change from a traditional wreath and perfect for spring through early fall.
I started by placing the liner in the bottom of the basket. This shouldn’t be done, but it helps keep the foam in place. Then place the floral foam in the center of the basket to support my flowers. I had a small cylinder left over from another project so I decided to make it work. I made him a nest out of shopping bags, so don’t use Styrofoam. Just buy cheap and make it work.

I cut all the flowers and put them in the styrofoam. That way, when my 5-year-old son decides to close the door, we won’t have hydrangeas flying around. Of course, you can use any type of flower you like. Using all plants would be nice. Any type of plant you want! Even fake grass would be cool.

I attached a length of burlap ribbon to the basket handles and tied a knot to create a hanging loop. Then I hung the burlap on a wreath hanger.
Then I used a chalk marker and wrote the word “hydrangea” on the label. My instinct was to write “welcome” but I had a big welcome sign on the door so it seemed like overkill.
I am SO happy with how this project turned out and even happier that it only took 10 minutes to complete! The hanging basket is the complete opposite of our door and is different from the usual wreath. Who knows. I could keep it year round. After all, this is Arizona. We only have one season… SUMMER!
